Have you come tried findmyshift.com? It's kind of like an online spreadsheet with text messages.

We've been using the free version since late last year and it's been great.

We have our roster online on googledocs. Linked to our blog, with people's first names only. We email out an excel version to everyone at the beginning of term. But we're still on a manual reminder system - someone emails everyone who is serving that week on the tuesday or wed - we've yet to work out how to do that automatically.

Hey Ben,

I have recently launched a site called JustRosters.com.

I would love for you to check it out; I think it fits your spec 100%.

Looking forward to your feedback!

Thanks Dan,

to be honest, I've never really thought of rosters as being all that personal, but its worth thinking about.

The weekly ring around may serve more than just logistical purposes.

Sounds like rostering bliss.

It's not there yet, but the guys who are working on jethro (http://jethro-pmm.sourceforge.net/) a church pastoral management system (i.e. database) are working on another product 'levi' which sounds like it could do some of what you mention here.

It would be interesting to see if a good system, that works the way you suggest, would result in the roster at church feeling less or more 'personal'.
